Fruit and Veggie Quilt |
|
Dimensions: 35" x 48" |
|
Completed: May 2005 |
This was one of a few projects I
have been setting up as portable hand work, now that my Dear Jane is no longer
portable (sniff!).
It uses all the different fruit/veg fabrics I could get my chubby little hands
on that read as a single colour. That way, my kids can play colour naming games
or food naming games when they are a bit older. Ben is already playing with it
in that way (he's nearly 2 1/2 now).
Stars are hand appliquéd (needle
turn) and were very portable.

Machine pieced and quilted in only
a few hours - meandering and small stars quilted into the gaps, with parallel
lines radiating out in the borders.
A slap-happy job, but it's DONE!
And the appliquéd label showing the
Very Cool backing fabric...

And if my sons don't want to play
with it, there are others who have shown an interest....

For those who care, I am making a
similar project with cat fabrics (yes, I have cut into my stash!!!) with
larger blocks and multi-sized stars.
