Wakayama Wall Hanging

This wall hanging was made for our friends Phil and Lucy.  Lucy spent 2 years living and working in Wakayama, Japan.  The design is based on the manhole covers used in this city (see my drawing), and uses some of my holiest of holy Japanese fabrics.
It is hand appliquéd and machine quilted in the ditch.

The manhole covers look like beachballs...
