Fijian Fabric Quilt

Dimensions: 43" x 56"

Completed: March 2006

This one was made in a HUGE rush! Our next door neighbours had us look after their cats while they were in Fiji - not a problem for us at all.... but when they got back they gave us presents! I was given a whole stack of Fijian fabric for my quilting. *grin*.... anyway, I had to make something for their wedding (but had forgotten when it was - a chance encounter led to "I can't believe the wedding is next weekend" and I had very little time to sew! Got it done in time though!!!!)

The moral of the story is to never give me a nice present, as I'll cut it up and give it back!!! (I do have some leftovers though.)

A simple layout to showcase the fabrics (and save time!), quilting is just a diagonal through the squares - nothing else would show up on the busy fabrics anyway. The long borders had to be pieced to get the full length.... I'm VERY proud of my invisible joins.

The funky (rayon *shudder*) sarong I used for the backing....

And the label....

The happy couple the day after the Big Event....
they had actually hoped I'd make them a quilt from the fabrics they bought me!
